Habiburokhman: TNI Perpetrators of Acid Attack Betray the President

The acid attack by four TNI soldiers on Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, is regarded as a form of betrayal against the government of President Prabowo Subianto, which seeks to uphold human rights.

“I am stating that this is a form of betrayal against the government’s commitment, President Prabowo’s commitment to upholding human rights,” said Habiburokhman, Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, at Merak Port on Thursday (19/03/2026).

Commission III of the House of Representatives expressed annoyance over the actions of the four TNI soldiers assigned to the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) who threw acid at KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus, as it is considered to have hurt President Prabowo Subianto.

Therefore, the government is urging law enforcement to conduct a professional investigation, and the TNI to be transparent.

Habiburokhman also requested that all law enforcement officials and the TNI thoroughly investigate the perpetrators, including the masterminds or those who gave the orders for the acid attack on KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus.

“It really hurts us and we want it investigated to the fullest, those who planned it, those involved, those who assisted, to be held legally accountable,” he emphasised.

Subsequently, if there are civilians involved, their trial will be conducted by the district court. Whereas for TNI soldiers, they will be handled by the Military Police Corps and military courts.

“Prosecuted if military by military prosecutors, civilians by public prosecutors in general courts,” he explained.
