Habiburokhman Responds to Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah's Name Emerging in Coal Corruption Case

House of Representatives Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman has responded to the emergence of Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah’s name in an alleged coal commodity corruption case being investigated by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor). Habiburokhman stated that his team is attempting to establish communication with relevant parties. However, he stressed that some matters cannot yet be disclosed to the public as they require further confirmation. “Yes, we are closely monitoring the latest developments. We are also trying to establish communication, but there are some things we cannot convey yet because we need further confirmation,” Habiburokhman told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan on Thursday (9/7). Although reluctant to mention specific names, the Gerindra Party politician reiterated the principle of equality before the law. He agreed that law enforcement must not discriminate based on a person’s position. Habiburokhman assured that if Kortas Tipikor investigators find strong evidence, any individual involved must face legal proceedings. “In the context of law enforcement, we do not look at who the person is. Whoever it is and whatever their position, if there is strong evidence, they must be held accountable,” he asserted. It was previously reported that several Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel were seen guarding the residence of Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah in South Jakarta on Wednesday (8/7). Based on Media Indonesia’s observations, TNI personnel were stationed in the Jalan Radio area, Kramat Pela, South Jakarta. Several soldiers were seen behind the fence of the house, which features a black exterior and white building. Some personnel were observed entering and exiting the residence, with several carrying long-barrelled weapons during their guard duty. The guard at Febrie’s house followed a police search of the second floor of Cafe de’Clan Signatur on Jalan Cilandak Tengah, Cipete, South Jakarta, on the same day. The search is linked to the handling of three corruption cases, including alleged corruption in coal commodity governance that triggered mass power outages (blackouts), which is being handled by the Police’s Kortas Tipikor. Another case involves the development of a corruption investigation into PT Asabri (Persero) and PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero) for the 2020 to 2025 period. The third cluster relates to alleged money laundering in the settlement of debt obligations of PT CBS to PT KNI within the jurisdiction of the Polda Metro Jaya.
