Habiburokhman Praises Polri's Serious and Professional Investigation into Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus

Chairman of DPR RI Commission III, Habiburokhman, has expressed appreciation to the police force, particularly Polda Metro Jaya, for their performance in uncovering the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. He assessed the handling of the case as running professionally and demonstrating the seriousness of law enforcement officials.

“First, we express our appreciation to the Polri ranks, in this case Polda Metro and also the Head of Div Propam, whom we see have been working very well and professionally in investigating this case,” said Habiburokhman at Polda Metro Jaya headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

Habiburokhman stated that the seriousness of the investigators, whom he deemed capable of quickly identifying the perpetrators, including revealing the faces and initials of the suspected perpetrators. According to him, this serves as evidence of the authorities’ sincerity in uncovering the case that has captured public attention.

“We see how serious the Polri colleagues are, to the point of obtaining the face and even the initials of that person. So we certainly support Mr Asep, Mr Karim, continue this work well,” he said.

Furthermore, Habiburokhman expressed his support for the police ranks to continue the legal process to the maximum. He also reminded the importance of thoroughness in administrative aspects and legal procedures to avoid creating loopholes for the perpetrators.

“We entrust the administration and procedures to be carried out neatly and well, such as the SPDP letter and so on, to be perfected, do not leave even the slightest gap for the perpetrators to resist legally,” he said.

In addition, Commission III of DPR RI is scheduled to hold a special meeting to discuss the case on the same day. The meeting will be held at 16:00 WIB in the DPR RI meeting room.

“We, Commission III of DPR RI, will hold a special meeting regarding this issue at 16:00 today in the DPR RI meeting room; our stance more broadly will be conveyed there,” he said.

The police displayed photos of the executor perpetrators in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. Photos of the executors, who were riding a motorbike, wearing batik-patterned clothing and blue clothing, were captured via CCTV along the route they took before and after the incident.

“This is the result of footage taken from CCTV that we have obtained. We emphasise to all colleagues that this was not altered or processed in any way. Thus, we can be accountable that this is not the result of artificial intelligence,” said Director of Reskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Iman Imannudin, at Polda Metro Jaya headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

“This is purely taken from CCTV captured by surveillance cameras along the route traversed by the perpetrators. Thus, it is not the result of artificial intelligence,” he added.
