Habiburokhman: Police and Prosecutor's Office Working Well, We Cherish Them
Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Commission III, Habiburokhman, is encouraging synergy between the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office to be maintained amidst the handling of the case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) official Febrie Adriansyah. He stated that both institutions are important partners in law enforcement.
“Yes, we are very worried about friction between institutions regarding Mr. Febrie’s case,” Habiburokhman said at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/7/2026).
He noted that Commission III had previously agreed for the case to be handled by the Attorney General’s Office. According to him, the Prosecutor’s Office has professional prosecutors who remain guided by the law and justice.
“Yesterday, we also agreed that the case be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office for investigation. Why? Because we also believe the Prosecutor’s Office has independent prosecutors. Even though they are examining a fellow prosecutor, their reference will certainly be the law and justice,” he explained.
He hopes there will be no friction between institutions, saying the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office are Commission III’s best partners.
“Therefore, we want to minimise friction between institutions. We deliberately invited the National Police Chief and the Attorney General at this most opportune moment because both are our best partners,” he said.
“The National Police Chief is a good person, the Attorney General is a good person, the Police institution has been working very well, the Prosecutor’s Office has been working very well. We cherish these two institutions, we do not want any friction. So, we invited them, I took a photo, and they laughed joyfully, alhamdulillah. Hopefully, things will be smoother going forward,” he added.
Previously, it was reported that Commission III is paying close attention to the legal process regarding corruption cases involving coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel. Habiburokhman stressed that the cases, which have prominently implicated law enforcement officers, are related to rogue individuals rather than the institutions themselves.
“There are several things to announce. First, Commission III is taking the initiative to ensure that the cases widely reported recently proceed within legal corridors and are thoroughly investigated,” Habiburokhman said during a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta on Saturday (11/7).
Habiburokhman asserted that his side will oversee the process to prevent any actions exceeding legal authority between law enforcement institutions during the investigation of these cases.
“Second, we also want to ensure there is no excess, friction, or conflict between institutions regarding the handling of this case. Because, after all, this is a case related to rogue individuals, to people, to individuals, not to institutions,” he stated.
