Habiburokhman Pledges Commission III Will Fully Support Amsal Sitepu's Videographer Case
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Commission III, Habiburokhman, has emphasised that his commission will provide maximum oversight of the case involving videographer Amsal Christy Sitepu.
The Gerindra politician stated that Commission III would utilise its authority to advocate for justice for Amsal, who is currently facing legal proceedings.
“Stay strong, Mr Amsal; insya Allah, we will go all out,” said Habiburokhman while opening the Public Hearing on General Opinions (RDPU) regarding the case at the DPR RI Building on Monday (30/3/2026).
Hearing that statement, Amsal immediately responded, “Amin! Thank you, sir.”
According to him, the matter involving Amsal stems from his professional activities as a creative economy worker.
However, that work has led to criminal charges.
“The essence is that he was carrying out work as a creative economy worker, but he has to face the law, accused of inflating prices for creative idea services that actually have no standard price,” he said.
Habiburokhman stressed that the current state of the case is already proceeding in court and heading towards its final stage, thus requiring immediate attention from the DPR.
“Now this case is at the end; that’s why we must act immediately today. It’s at the end because in a few days there will be a court decision,” he concluded.
Previously reported, Commission III of the DPR RI scheduled the RDPU to respond to public demands that view the handling of Amsal’s case as fraught with injustice.
“This RDPU is being held to address the numerous public demands that consider the case to be coloured by injustice,” said Habiburokhman in a written statement on Sunday (29/3/2026).
He is accused of inflating the budget in services for creating a village promotional video through his company, CV Promiseland.
However, according to Habiburokhman, videography work is part of the creative industry that lacks a standard fixed price.
