We will soon discuss and enact the Judges’ Position Act.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Commission III, Habiburokhman, stated that his commission will promptly discuss and pass the Judges’ Position Bill, which is currently still in the discussion stage.

“We will soon discuss and enact the Judges’ Position Act,” said Habiburokhman during the National Seminar commemorating the 73rd Anniversary of the Indonesian Judges’ Association (IKAHI) at the Supreme Court Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The statement was met with applause from participants at the national seminar titled “Trusted Judges, Prosperous People”.

According to him, the existence of the Judges’ Position Act will serve as a strong legal umbrella to guarantee the welfare, security, and safety of judges, especially those serving in remote and outermost areas.

“The main point is that through this Judges’ Position Act, we will maximise the welfare, security, and safety of judges,” he stated.

“We understand the current situation. Without strong legal support, we are concerned for judges serving in remote areas with difficult conditions,” he said.

“I extend my encouragement to all IKAHI member judges serving in Merauke, Sabang, and other challenging regions,” he added.

The Judges’ Position Bill has been advocated for since 2012, including by the Judicial Commission, and has been included in the National Legislation Programme (Prolegnas) several times, including from 2020 to the 2025–2026 period.

The enactment of this bill is considered important for addressing various issues related to the protection, recruitment, and independence of judges in Indonesia.
