Habiburokhman Hopes AMPB Coordinator Supriyono's Account Is Reactivated Soon
House of Representatives Commission III chairman Habiburokhman has requested that the bank account belonging to Supriyono, coordinator of the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB), be reactivated immediately on Wednesday (26/8). The request follows the completion of a police investigation into donation funds held in the account.
Habiburokhman made the statement during a joint press conference with the Metro Jaya Regional Police and state-owned Bank Mandiri in Jakarta. He expressed hope that Supriyono, familiarly known as Pak Botok, would soon be able to use his funds again for daily activities.
“Alhamdulillah, we hope the account can soon be used by Pak Botok because he may have needs for his activities. Immediately, perhaps if possible the process can be completed today,” said Habiburokhman.
Metro Jaya Police Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, explained that his team had completed its legal fact-finding regarding the donations in the account. A transaction hold had previously been imposed to ensure the source of funds did not violate the law.
Iman stressed that the hold was taken to protect both donors and recipients of the donations. Under regulations, a transaction hold may last a maximum of five working days.
“Today has not yet reached five working days. Nevertheless, we moved quickly to ensure that the democratic process and the expression of opinions can also be protected for all members of the public,” said Iman.
Bank Mandiri president director Riduan stated his institution’s readiness to follow up on the directive. Bank Mandiri will promptly process the reactivation of the account whose transactions had previously been suspended.
“As a bank that serves customers with consequences regulated by law, we will follow up on what has been conveyed to immediately reactivate the account,” Riduan asserted.
Supriyono’s account was reportedly blocked while he was accompanying Pati residents to voice their aspirations in Jakarta on Friday (21/8). The Rp80.9 million in the account was intended to meet the operational needs of the Pati community protest.
