Habiburokhman Explains Reasons for Differences in Initials of Acid Attack Suspect According to Police and TNI
Jakarta - The Chairman of DPR Commission III, Habiburokhman, has spoken out regarding the differences between the TNI and police in stating the initials of the soldier who was the perpetrator in the acid splashing incident against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.
Habiburokhman gave an example that security forces could provide different initials, even though the identity is actually the same.
“Yes, this is still ongoing. For initials, for example, if the name is Muhammad Udin, some state it as MU, others as MUDN, there are various choices of letters for the initials,” said Habiburokhman at the DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
Moreover, Habiburokhman stated that the DPR will also monitor the investigation of the case through a working committee.
“I think there is no room for anyone to not conclude the actual identity of the perpetrator,” he explained.
Polda Metro Jaya revealed two perpetrators captured on CCTV with initials BHC and MAK.
Meanwhile, Puspom TNI stated there are four perpetrators, namely NDP with the rank of captain, and three others with initials Lettu SL, Lettu BHW, and Serda ES.
Andrie Yunus himself was splashed with acid by unknown individuals in Central Jakarta on Thursday night (12/3/2026).
“Especially on the right and left hand areas, face, chest, and eye area,” Dimas told Kompas.com on Friday (13/3/2026).
Andrie was then rushed to hospital for medical treatment. From the examination results, he was found to have burns covering around 24 percent.
“The incident occurred shortly after Andrie Yunus finished recording a podcast at the YLBHI office titled ‘Militarism and Judicial Review in Indonesia’ which concluded around 23:00 WIB,” Dimas explained.
