Habiburokhman Confirms BPK Member Haerul Saleh's Death in Fire: I Am Deeply Grieving

Jakarta – BPK RI member Haerul Saleh passed away in a house fire at Jalan TB Simatupang No 3, RT03/RW02, Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, which occurred on Friday morning, 8 May 2026.

The news of Haerul Saleh’s death was confirmed directly by the Chairman of DPR RI Commission III, Habiburokhman. He admitted to being shocked upon hearing the news of Haerul Saleh’s passing.

“I am very shocked and deeply grieving. He was one of my close friends; before the 2014 election, we shared a room during Gerindra cadre training,” said Habiburokhman when contacted on Friday, 8 May 2026.

Habiburokhman remembered Haerul Saleh as a very intelligent and kind young man.

“He was very kind. He was a smart young man who passed away at just 43 years old,” he stated.

He then prayed that the late Haerul Saleh would receive the best place beside Allah SWT. “We pray that he has a good end, that all his sins are forgiven, his deeds of worship are accepted, and he receives the best place beside Allah SWT,” he concluded.

It was previously reported that one person died in the house fire at Jalan TB Simatupang No 3, RT03/RW02, Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa.

This was confirmed by the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Department (Gulkarmat Jaksel). The victim was known to be 49 years old.

“For the deceased victim named KS, the situation has been handled by the officers,” said the Head of South Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-Department, Asril Rizal, to reporters on Friday, 8 May 2026.

Currently, the victim’s body has been transported by ambulance to Pasar Minggu General Hospital for further handling.

Initially, he said, the officers received information from the local RT who saw thick black smoke billowing from the third floor of the house.

“The fire is suspected to have originated from remnants of thinner used in house renovations,” he explained.

The RT then immediately contacted the South Jakarta Gulkarmat officers for assistance. South Jakarta Gulkarmat personnel carried out the extinguishing operation at 08:07 WIB and completed the operation at 08:46 WIB.

To date, they are still assessing the extent of the damage from the affected area of 5x10 square metres.
