Queues of logistics vehicles stretched at Gilimanuk Port in Jembrana Regency, Bali, this afternoon. Hundreds of trucks crowded the port’s parking area, spilling over onto the main road leading to the pier entrance on H+9 after Eid.

This situation was triggered by the application of the arrive-unload-depart (TBB) scheme at Gilimanuk Port. The policy was adopted by port authorities to accelerate the clearance of the ongoing post-Eid return flow queues at Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi, East Java.

Deputy Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Yossianis Marciano, explained that service speed at every point is the current focus. According to him, the TBB pattern forces ships not to linger at the pier.

“Our focus is to ensure the process runs quickly and continuously. Through the TBB pattern, ships do not stay long at the pier, so vehicles can be served immediately and keep moving,” Yossianis stated in his comments received by detikBali on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

ASDP optimised ship loading and unloading times with an average duration of only 35 minutes per cycle. Although it caused queues at Gilimanuk, he said this step was taken to significantly increase ship rotations from Ketapang.

“The most important thing is that the flow remains alive. Queues may occur, but they must not stop,” Yossianis added.

34 Ships Deployed

To speed up services, 34 ships were operated, compared to the normal number of just 28, with 22 of them applying the TBB pattern. In addition, four support ships were deployed specifically to maintain a stable service rhythm amid the high volume of vehicles crossing to the Island of the Gods.

Data from the Ketapang Port Post recorded an increase in the number of service users entering Bali on H+8 after Eid or Monday (30/3). The total vehicles crossing reached 17,608 units.

“Overall, there was an increase in the number of vehicles entering Bali, up 2.1% compared to the same period last year,” said ASDP Ketapang’s Public Relations Manager, Bintang Felfian, separately.

Bintang detailed the vehicles entering Bali on H+8 after Eid, including motorcycles numbering 10,617 units (up 7.5%), private cars 4,808 units (down 3.1%). Then buses 572 units (up 11.3%) and logistics trucks: 1,611 units (down 15.4%).

“Cumulatively from H-10 to H+8, the total passengers who have crossed from Java to Bali reached 624,717 people. The peak return flow itself was surpassed on Sunday (29/3/2026) or H+7 with a total of 56,365 passengers in one day,” Bintang said.
