National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the peak return flow for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE has been successfully navigated. As of H+6 Lebaran, a total of 2,561,629 travellers have re-entered the Jakarta area.

“The actual traffic volume exiting Jakarta was 2,946,891, and the number returning to Jakarta so far is 2,561,629, leaving a remainder of 385,262 or 13.07 percent,” explained the National Police Chief, quoted from Antara on Saturday (28/3).

Despite the high mobility of the public during this year’s Lebaran holiday period, the National Police Chief assessed that the on-ground situation was well-controlled thanks to cross-sectoral synergy and the optimisation of traffic management technology.

Police data indicates a positive trend in road safety aspects. The number of traffic accidents recorded a decrease of 7.8 percent compared to the previous year.

“So, traffic accident incidents this time are down 7.8 percent from last year, while fatalities, meaning deaths, decreased by 112 people compared to last year, from 377 to 265,” revealed General Sigit.

The National Police Chief described this reduction in accident figures as evidence of improved mudik service quality by the Indonesian National Police. One new dimension developed this year is the strengthening of child-friendly services at rest points.

Technical strategies such as the implementation of the delaying system, provision of buffer zones, and stricter ticket checks were cited as keys to the smooth flow. “Alhamdulillah, everything has been maintained so that the situation remains normal or green,” he said.

Considering that about 13 percent of travellers are still on the road, the National Police Chief once again urged drivers to prioritise safety and not to push themselves.

“Of course, I once again urge the public, especially those still undertaking long journeys, to be really careful,” advised the National Police Chief.

He asked travellers to make use of the rest facilities provided by the government to recover their physical condition. “Rest areas and buffer zones have been prepared; utilise them well so that when your condition is fit again, you can continue your journey and arrive at your destination safely,” he stated.
