The Bandung Regency Transportation Agency (Dishub) in West Java recorded that vehicle traffic during the Eid al-Fitr return period remains quite congested on several routes until Thursday (26/3) afternoon. The congestion persists even though the peak return flow occurred on H+3 Eid.

Coordinator of Public Relations for the Eid Security Post at Dishub Bandung Regency, Ruddy Heryadi, stated that the volume of vehicles passing through is still considered high, particularly on the Nagreg ring road.

“This afternoon is relatively congested, similar to yesterday, with no spikes. However, vehicles are quite dense exiting the Nagreg ring road on H+5 until 5:00 PM WIB, with 70,026 vehicles passing through,” he said.

Based on data from Dishub Bandung Regency, the number of return flow vehicles passing through from H+1 to H+5 reaches 587,318 units.

Ruddy explained that the trend in vehicle movement experienced an increase from the start of the return flow. On H+1, 103,427 vehicles were recorded, then rising to 148,266 vehicles on H+2, and peaking on H+3 with a total of 149,030 vehicles.

After that, the number of vehicles began to show a decline on H+4 to 126,263 units, and decreased further on H+5 until 5:00 PM WIB.

He added that percentage-wise, there was a significant increase at the beginning of the return flow compared to the same period last year, before eventually experiencing a decline.

“The peak on H+3 with an increase of 41.54 percent compared to last year, then H+4 at 0.18 percent, and H+5 until 5:00 PM WIB experiencing a decline of minus 0.47 percent,” he stated.

Although the trend is starting to decrease, Dishub estimates that vehicle movement will continue in the coming days. This is due to some returnees who have not yet returned to their home areas.

“Vehicle movement will still occur, especially ahead of the weekend because there are still returnees coming back,” he said.

To anticipate congestion, Dishub Bandung Regency continues to deploy personnel at several vulnerable points and carries out traffic arrangements. Coordination with the police is also ongoing to ensure smooth vehicle flow during the Eid return period.
