H-3 Lebaran: Vehicles Leaving Jakarta via MBZ Toll Road Surge 198%
Bekasi, West Java (ANTARA) - PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (JJC) recorded a significant increase in vehicles leaving Jakarta via the Mohammed bin Zayed Elevated Toll Road or MBZ, up by 198% on H-3 of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, which fell on Wednesday (18/3/2026), compared to normal daily conditions.
"Based on traffic data, the volume of vehicles leaving Jakarta was recorded at 64,985 vehicles, far higher than the normal daily traffic of 21,787 vehicles, an increase of 198.27%," said General Manager of Operations and Maintenance at JJC, Desti Anggraeni, in Bekasi, West Java, on Thursday.
The company also noted a surge in vehicles heading to Jakarta, totalling 28,788 vehicles, up 30.32% from the normal traffic of 22,090 vehicles.
"Overall, the total number of vehicles passing through the MBZ Elevated Road in both directions reached 93,773 vehicles, with more vehicles leaving Jakarta than entering," she said.
She explained that, at the discretion of the police in responding to the surge in vehicle traffic volume, the company has implemented traffic engineering in the form of situational open-close access to the Cikampek direction.
This measure is also aimed at alleviating congestion, including at the Km 48 exit due to the convergence of traffic flows from the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.
As of today, the situational open-close traffic engineering at the Jatiasih, Kalimalang, and Km 10A entry points, which has been in place since Wednesday (18/3/2029) at 22:24 WIB, is still being enforced due to the high volume of vehicles passing through the MBZ Elevated Road.
"In addition, disruptions have been reported, including vehicles experiencing overheating, running out of fuel, flat tyres, and other vehicle issues," she stated.
Desti continues to urge road users passing through MBZ to prioritise safety by ensuring the condition of the driver and vehicle is optimal, as well as maintaining sufficient electricity or fuel levels.
Drivers are also advised to anticipate potential weather changes, particularly rain, which can affect visibility and road surface conditions, so that the journey can proceed safely and comfortably until reaching the destination.
