PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) recorded 327,646 passengers returning to Java Island from Sumatra Island during the period from 22 March to 25 March 2026. This figure represents 36.4% compared to the total passengers during the outbound journey (H-10 to H) which reached 898,864 people. Meanwhile, the total vehicles returning from Sumatra to Java reached 89,389 units, or about 37% compared to the total vehicles during the outbound journey recorded at 239,920 units. ASDP President Director Heru Widodo stated that based on this data, the return flow will continue to move and is expected to increase in the coming days. His side continues to intensively monitor developments in the return flow and optimise all aspects of service. “Along with the formation of return traffic, we ensure that crossing operations continue to run smoothly, both in terms of fleet readiness and service to users. Coordination with all stakeholders continues to be strengthened so that the movement of passengers and vehicles remains under control,” he said in a statement quoted on Thursday (26/3). To anticipate surges, ASDP has prepared various strategic measures, from operating vessels adjusted to density schemes, readiness of contingency plans through the provision of tugboats and 24-hour standby technicians, to the implementation of the Arrive-Unload-Depart (TBB) pattern to accelerate service times during dense conditions. ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale added that during the H+2 Lebaran period (24 March 2026), movement from Sumatra to Java was recorded at 128,821 people or an increase of 51% compared to the same period last year. Total vehicles reached 36,499 units or up 63%. Meanwhile, movement from Java to Sumatra was recorded at 47,052 passengers or up 24.7%, with total vehicles reaching 10,110 units or up 20.4%.
