In preparation for Idul Fitri 1447 H, the services of the Regional Water Company (PDAM) Tirtauli in Pematangsiantar have greatly disappointed the public. Residents are complaining about the disruption to their clean water needs during the long Idul Fitri holiday period when people are enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Based on information gathered from 06:30 to 11:00 WIB on Tuesday (24/3), the clean water supply for residents around Jl Viyata Yudha in Setia Negara Kelurahan, Siantar Sitalasari, Pematangsiantar City, has been disrupted, preventing them from accessing clean water.

One resident living near Jl Viyata Yudha in Setia Negara Kelurahan, Sulastiati, expressed her disappointment with PDAM Tirtauli’s services during the Idul Fitri period, when people are unable to enjoy clean water at home.

“It is very regrettable that PDAM’s services on the third day of the Lebaran holiday are like this. We haven’t been able to use clean water since morning, when we really need it for cooking and bathing for the family,” said Sulastiati to Media Indonesia on Tuesday (24/3).

To cope, she temporarily bought ready-made food from nearby shops so that her large family could have breakfast.

In response to the residents’ complaints, PDAM Tirtauli’s Director Arianto asked for patience from all customers and assured that he would promptly follow up on every complaint.

He explained that the clean water supply to homes in the area was cut off due to damage or bursting of distribution pipes in two locations near Jalan Panambean. “Please be patient. It is being worked on immediately. We don’t want this either. It’s already a loss for us to lose water,” said Arianto.

On that occasion, he also extended apologies for the inconvenience during the long Idul Fitri holiday.

“10% of PDAM employees also live in the affected area. Hopefully, we can resolve it soon. We apologise for this inconvenience,” Arianto stated.
