H-2 Idul Adha: Gilimanuk Port Traffic Jams Extend 950 Metres Overnight
Long traffic jams have begun at Gilimanuk Port in Jembrana, Bali, on H-2 of Idul Adha 1447 H/2026 and the Pancasila Day long weekend. Vehicle queues, predominantly consisting of logistics trucks, stretched up to Gilimanuk Market on Monday night (25 June 2026).
Gilimanuk Naval Post Commander Lieutenant Yuli Prasetyo stated that outbound Bali traffic congestion had been noticeable for the past week. “Traffic density began before Idul Adha. Tonight, the queue of logistics trucks extends to Gilimanuk Market (approximately 950 metres from the port entrance),” Yuli said on Monday.
The surge in vehicles occurred amid rapidly changing weather conditions in the Bali Strait over recent days. Ferry operators had to adjust operations. Poor weather had previously disrupted sailing and ship manoeuvring during docking and cargo handling at the pier.
To prevent further vehicle queueing, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) deployed additional ferry vessels in the Bali Strait. ASDP Ketapang Branch Public Relations Manager Bintang Felfian said the supplementary vessel, KMP Rodhita, is operating on the Lembar-Padangbai route. “As directed, we have deployed the KMP Rodhita from the Lembar-Padangbai route. This 1,236 GT vessel can carry up to 58 small vehicles or approximately 30 mixed vehicles,” Bintang said on Monday.
This measure aims to ensure smooth ferry operations to and from Gilimanuk Port during the extended Idul Adha holiday. It is also critical to guarantee secure and controlled logistics distribution to Bali.
Regarding the extreme weather that triggered a vessel grounding incident, ASDP confirmed all operational procedures are now being carried out with heightened caution for passenger and crew safety. “We are ensuring the queue moves steadily through controlled management,” Bintang added.
As of Monday night, conditions within Gilimanuk Port remained heavily congested.
