H-2 Before Eid, 52,000 Commuters Depart from Jakarta Daop 1 Stations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - More than 52,000 passengers departed for Eid homecoming from train stations in the PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 1 Jakarta region on Thursday, or H-2 before Eid.
“KAI Daop 1 Jakarta recorded 52,330 tickets sold for today’s departures from various stations in the Daop 1 area, including Pasar Senen and Gambir Stations,” said Manager of Public Relations for PT KAI Daerah Operasi (Daop) 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, at Senen Station, Jakarta, on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the number of arriving passengers reached 27,741 people. Cumulatively, the total departures during the 11-19 March period have reached 430,977 passengers.
Franoto explained that the figure could still increase until midnight. “Usually, from morning until midnight, there is an additional 500 to 1,000 passengers,” he said.
Data shows that Pasar Senen Station was the second busiest departure point after yesterday’s H-3 peak, which exceeded 53,576 passengers.
Many passengers were seen sitting in the waiting areas, guarding their belongings and awaiting their departure schedules to their respective destinations. However, limited seating forced some passengers to sit on the station floor.
One passenger, Yogi Irawan (38 years old), said he chose to depart close to Eid because he had just received leave. He and his family plan to return to their hometown in Malang, East Java.
“Actually, I’ve been on leave since yesterday, but I got tickets for today’s departure,” said Yogi.
PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta provided a total seating capacity for long-distance trains of 1,083,623 seats. A total of 756,929 tickets have been sold for the period from 11 March to 1 April 2026.
Franoto stated that the average occupancy rate for the period from 11 March to 1 April 2026 is 70 per cent (dynamic data).
KAI Daop 1 Jakarta operates 68 regular long-distance train services per day, 12 additional trains from Gambir Station, seven additional trains from Pasar Senen Station, and four free Motor Train services.
