The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has prepared special traffic management arrangements for the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing during the 2026 Nyepi observance period. Vehicles seeking to enter Bali via Gilimanuk Port on H-1 Nyepi will be stopped at 5 PM at Ketapang Port in Java.

“The arrangement at Ketapang-Gilimanuk specifically for vehicles heading from Java to Bali via Ketapang Port will be halted at 5 PM on the 18th,” said Kombes Aris, Head of Operations at Korlantas Polri, during a meeting discussing the readiness of infrastructure and transportation services for the 2026 Lebaran exodus with Commission V of the House of Representatives in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (11/3/2026).

Aris explained the rationale for imposing the vehicle restriction earlier than the Nyepi observance date. The measure aims to allow vehicles to reach their destinations before Nyepi commences.

“The intention is to provide an opportunity so that when the vehicles arrive at Gilimanuk, they still have a chance to reach their final destination,” he said.

Meanwhile, vehicles intending to depart Bali through Gilimanuk will be stopped one hour before Nyepi begins. Gilimanuk Port will reopen on 20 March 2026 at 5 AM local time.

“However, vehicles departing from Gilimanuk or leaving Bali will only be closed at 5 AM local time because there are no restrictions on travel in Java regions. It will then reopen the following day at 5 AM,” he added.
