Gusmao, Horta to speak in Makassar

MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: East Timor President Xanana Gusmao and
foreign minister Jose Ramos-Horta are scheduled to attend an
eastern Indonesia (KTI) development seminar as keynote speakers
in Makassar on Thursday.

Andi Jaya Sose of the New Indonesia Alliance (PIB), which is
sponsoring the program, said in Makassar on Tuesday one-day
seminar was expected to find ways to accelerate development in
eastern Indonesia.

Other speakers at the seminar are State Minister of the
Acceleration of Development in Eastern Indonesia Manuel Kaisiepo,
South Sulawesi Governor Palaguna, PIB chairman Sjahrir and the
Bosowa Group president H. Aksa Mahmud.

"Despite the priority given to the development of eastern
Indonesia, KTI continues to experience various internal
