Gus Yasin Urges Ulama and Tarekat Scholars to Continue Praying for the Nation
Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen has asked ulama and tarekat scholars to continue praying for the nation and its leaders so they may carry out their mandate and realise good governance.
He made the statement whilst attending the Manaqib Qubra, Istighosah, Bahtsul Masail, Mursyid Gathering, and Grand Recitation of Jam’iyyah Ahlith Thoriqoh Al Mu’tabaroh An Nahdliyyah (Jatman) Central Java-DIY at Al Ihya Ulumaddin Islamic Boarding School in Kesugihan, Cilacap Regency, on Saturday.
According to Gus Yasin, tarekat plays an important role in building spirituality. The dhikr practised is not only a personal act of worship but also a prayer for the nation, the state, and the running of the government.
"May the wheels of government be included in your prayers. The government will run well thanks to the prayers of tarekat scholars and ulama," he said.
He added that strengthening faith was the first teaching of the Prophet Muhammad. A person who is steadfast in dhikr will possess a spiritual awareness capable of preventing despicable acts, including corruption.
Meanwhile, Rais Jatman Central Java-DIY, Achmad Chalwani Nawawi, stated that ulama and tarekat scholars have played a significant role in the history of the nation’s struggle. The spiritual values they have bequeathed form an important foundation in building Indonesia.
