Former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, also known as Gus Yaqut, attended Eid al-Adha prayers at the Al-Ikhlas Mosque in the KPK’s Merah Putih Building. Gus Yaqut was seen wearing a white shirt paired with a sarong and peci after the Eid al-Adha service on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. Following the prayers, the suspect in the 2023-2024 hajj quota corruption case was returned to the KPK detention facility along with other inmates. Pati Regent Sudewo, a suspect in a case involving alleged extortion in village official appointments in Pati Regency, Central Java, was also present. A total of 52 inmates at the KPK’s two detention facilities attended the Eid al-Adha prayers, all dressed in white clothing. “This facilitation is a manifestation of fulfilling the basic rights of detainees, including the right to practice their religion,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo. Budi explained that of the 62 inmates at the KPK’s Merah Putih and C1 branch detention facilities, 52 are Muslim and participated in the Eid al-Adha prayers. Meanwhile, five inmates are Christian, two Catholic, two Buddhist, and one Hindu. In addition to the religious services, family and relatives’ visits for inmates were scheduled on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, from 10:00 to 13:00 WIB. “Therefore, religious services are routinely facilitated while adhering to the detention facility’s regulations,” Budi added.
