The former Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), Yahya Cholil Staquf, known as Gus Yahya, visited the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday (3/9/2026) afternoon.

Gus Yahya’s arrival coincided with the ongoing trial regarding alleged corruption in the additional Hajj quota for the 2023-2024 period. One of the defendants in the case is his biological brother, the former Minister of Religious Affairs, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, also known as Gus Yaqut.

Based on observations at the location, Gus Yahya arrived at the Central Jakarta District Court building at approximately 17:58 WIB, wearing a short-sleeled batik shirt and a songkok. He did not immediately enter the courtroom, as the session at that time was dedicated to the examination of the defendant, Ismail Adham, the Operational Director of PT Makassar Toraja. Gus Yahya waited in the waiting area located in the lobby of the court. While at the location, Gus Yahya declined to provide any comments regarding his visit to the court.

In the corruption case involving the 2023-2024 additional Hajj quota, Yaqut is accused of causing state financial losses amounting to Rp622,090,071,666.41. This indictment was read by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors during the trial at the Corruption Court on Tuesday (11/8/2026).

The prosecutors stated that the loss value was based on the investigative findings of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) regarding the calculation of state losses related to the Indonesian Hajj quota for the 2023-2024 pilgrimage period within the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

In the indictment, Yaqut is alleged to have committed these acts alongside his former special staff, Ishfah Abidal Aziz (Gus Alex); the Operational Director of Maktour, Ismail Adham; and the Chairman of the Kesthuri Association and Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama, Asrul Azis Taba.

The prosecutors allege that the defendants filled the additional special Hajj quota for 2023 and 2024 with special pilgrims who had no waiting period (T0), bypassing the established waiting period mechanism. According to the prosecutors, these actions were taken to accommodate requests from the Association of Special Hajj Organisers (PIHK), accompanied by the receipt of ‘acceleration fees’ from pilgrims, and the unauthorised reallocation of 50 per cent of the 2024 additional special Hajj quota without technical studies.

In this case, prosecutors suspect that Yaqut obtained a profit of USD 271,500. Furthermore, the prosecutors allege that these actions enriched 313 Special Hajj Organisers (PIHK) by Rp478,173,058,166.41 and the Perahu Cooperative by USD 26,500.
