Gus Yahya: Islamic mass organisations will have room to contribute to the government

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Yahya Cholil Staquf alias Gus Yahya, Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), said that Islamic organisations (ormas) and ulama would have room to contribute to realising the various agendas outlined by the government. According to him, the leaders of Islamic mass organisations have agreed to work together with presidential aides by building a cooperation framework. He said this after attending a gathering of the President with ulama and leaders of mass organisations at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Friday. ‘Islamic mass organisations and ulama will also have room to contribute to realising the various agendas that have been announced by the government,’ Yahya said. He also stated that Islamic mass organisations have agreed to give trust and opportunity to President Prabowo Subianto to work and realise his political promises. Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto shared a moment of breaking fast with Rais Aam Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Miftachul Akhyar, Chairman of Muhammadiyah Prof. Haedar Nashir, and Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Anwar Iskandar at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday. In one corner of a room at Merdeka Palace, as shared by the official @prabowo social media account, the President enjoyed takjil and dates during breaking fast with Rais Aam PBNU, the Chairman of Muhammadiyah’s Central Leadership (PP) Prof. Haedar Nashir, and the Chairman of MUI KH Anwar Iskandar at a small round table just large enough for four. The President was seated flanked by Haedar Nashir on his right and Anwar Iskandar on his left, while Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar sat opposite the President.
