Gus Par Inspects Repairs to Three Road Sections, Ensures They Are on Schedule

Karangasem Regent I Gusti Putu Parwata (Gus Par) and his staff inspected three road sections currently under construction in Selat District on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. They were the Karangsari-Geriana, Geriana Kauh–Sukaluwih, and Padangaji road sections.

During the visit, Gus Par and officials monitored the repair process in detail to ensure the works were progressing as planned and meeting standards.

‘From the checks, the progress is quite good and the quality is already in line with the standards,’ Gus Par said.

The first road section inspected was Karangsari-Geriana. The repair works cover roughly 1.2 kilometres with a budget of around Rp1.7 billion. The section will be complemented with drainage channels to prevent water damage.

‘In fact, the total length of this road is 4.2 kilometres, but this year only 1.2 kilometres can be repaired,’ said Gus Par.

If the budget suffices, further repairs will be carried out in the 2026 Revised Budget (APBD Perubahan 2026). If not, they will be undertaken in APBD 2027. Because there are several proposed road repairs, priority must be given.

‘I want the repair of this road section to be completed, but it must be done gradually. Therefore I ask the community to be patient,’ Gus Par said.

The Karangasem Regency Government will continue road repairs. This year there are 32 infrastructure repair sites across Karangasem. In the coming years, all damaged road sections in Karangasem could be fully repaired.

Meanwhile, local resident I Gede Suarta expressed thanks to the Karangasem Regency Government for repairing the Karangsari-Geriana section, even though not in its entirety yet.

‘My hope, as a member of the community, is that the repairs can be continued, because along this road the damage is quite severe,’ Suarta said.
