Gus Irfan Suddenly Asks to Stop Discussing 'Ticket War', What's Going On?
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, or Gus Irfan, has revealed that the concept of purchasing Hajj tickets through a ‘war’ system will be temporarily suspended. This was stated during a working meeting with the DPR RI’s Commission VIII on Tuesday (15/4/2026). “I admit that the ticket war is a concept currently being discussed in the Ministry of Hajj, and if asked who is responsible, I am the one who first introduced the term ‘ticket war’. It’s still too premature, so we will close it for now until today,” he said during the meeting. Therefore, Gus Irfan explained that the ministry will now focus on more immediate agendas, namely the 2026 Hajj embarkation, which will take place at the end of May 2026. “While we resolve the Hajj that is already right in front of us,” he added. For information, the Hajj ticket war is one of the concepts from the Ministry of Hajj for a new system so that Hajj worship does not require queuing. Previously, Hajj and Umrah Minister RI Gus Irfan stated that this idea stemmed from progressive thinking within the ministry, including from the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah. The goal is to find a solution so that prospective pilgrims do not have to wait too long to depart to the Holy Land. Citing Detik, in this ‘ticket war’ scheme, the government will later announce the Hajj costs for the current year and open registration on a specific date. Anyone who is ready financially and physically can register directly and depart in the same year.
