Gus Irfan Asks Hajj Officials to Pray for President Prabowo

JAKARTA — Minister of Hajj and Umrah M Irfan Yusuf, commonly known as Gus Irfan, has requested that Indonesian Hajj officials pray for the Indonesian nation and President Prabowo Subianto, so that he continues to be granted strength in leading the country. This was conveyed by Gus Irfan during the send-off of 200 Hajj officials for the Mecca Operational Area (Daker Makkah). “I also ask that you pray for our nation’s leader, President Prabowo, so that he remains healthy and can fulfil the heavy mandate of the nation, the mandate to lead the nation towards a prosperous society,” said Gus Irfan at the Pondok Gede Hajj Hostel in Jakarta on Thursday (24/4/2026). On that occasion, Gus Irfan dispatched 200 Hajj officials to Mecca. Meanwhile, all members of the Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) for the Madinah Operational Area have already been sent off earlier. According to Gus Irfan, the departure process for Hajj officials will continue until 13 May. “Today we are sending off the Daker Makkah. So in total, all 1,300 Hajj officials, the rest will follow, and the non-batch ones will be continued later,” said Gus Irfan. Meanwhile, the first wave of Hajj pilgrims who have arrived in Madinah number around 6,700 people. He expressed gratitude that so far, the dispatch process for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims has gone smoothly. “Alhamdulillah, everything is going smoothly as per our expectations, and today they are carrying out activities in Madinah, especially the Arbain or performing 40 prayers in the Prophet’s Mosque, meaning eight days there,” he said.
