Gus Ipul Urges Regional Leaders to Oversee Accuracy of Social Aid Recipient Data
Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, commonly known as Gus Ipul, received four regional leaders in an audience at the Ministry of Social Affairs office. The visitors were Padang Mayor Fadly Amran, Gorontalo Regent Sofyan Puhi, Sigi Regent Rizal Intjenae, and East Luwu Regent Irwan Bachri Syam.
The meeting took place on Monday (23 February). During the audience, Gus Ipul invited the regional leaders to jointly oversee the accuracy of social assistance recipient data from the village level upwards.
“Regents hold significant authority in determining deciles. All data originates from the regions and is subsequently verified by BPS [Statistics Indonesia],” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Tuesday (24 February 2026).
Gus Ipul requested that social affairs offices in each region strengthen coordination down to the village level to ensure data updating proceeds accurately. He explained there are two channels for data updating: the formal channel through neighbourhood associations (RT/RW), and the participatory channel through the proposal-and-objection mechanism in the Cek Bansos application.
The Ministry of Social Affairs has also opened participatory data updating channels through several platforms, including the SIKS NG application accessible to village operators and social affairs office operators, ground checks by PKH (Family Hope Programme) facilitators, BPS officers and local governments, the Ministry’s 171 Call Centre, and available WhatsApp channels.
“At every Posyandu [integrated health post] in the village, there is what is called a Puskesos [social welfare centre] that functions to receive complaints from the public — any complaints whatsoever. Puskesos can also serve as a gathering point for social facilitators,” he elaborated.
Gus Ipul emphasised the importance of regional leaders taking the data updating process seriously through to the validation stage.
“Ready!” the regional leaders replied in unison, affirming their commitment to overseeing every stage of the social assistance recipient data updating process.
