Gus Ipul Promotes the Spirit of "Thrifty, Excellent Service, and Corruption-Free" at the Ministry of Social Affairs
JAKARTA - Social Affairs Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, has reaffirmed his commitment to building governance at the Ministry of Social Affairs that is thrifty, highly performant, and free from corrupt practices.
Gus Ipul emphasised the importance of strengthening integrity and efficiency in carrying out tasks at the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).
He is championing the spirit of “thrifty, excellent service, and corruption-free” as the direction for future policies.
“Service will be even more excellent and corruption-free. This is our spirit moving forward so that the tasks assigned by the President to the Ministry of Social Affairs can be carried out earnestly, with full integrity, and guided by those three principles,” said Gus Ipul at Kemensos on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
Gus Ipul explained that the principle of thriftiness does not mean lowering the quality of services.
On the contrary, efficiency should drive improvements in service quality to the public.
“Thrifty, with services continuously improving, excellent, and finally corruption-free. All three are interconnected,” he stated.
Gus Ipul also expressed appreciation to all Kemensos staff for the performance shown so far.
However, he stressed that he would not hesitate to take firm action against any violations.
“We will not hesitate to enforce rules and impose sanctions on those who commit violations,” he said.
In addition, the implementation of meetings and official activities will be optimised online to reduce operational costs.
The use of official vehicles will also be limited, encouraging the use of public transport or electric vehicles.
On the other hand, the use of energy such as electricity, gas, and water in the work environment is urged to be done wisely.
Gus Ipul also prohibited employees from meeting vendors outside official procurement mechanisms to prevent potential deviations.
No less important, unit leaders are asked to take full responsibility for the discipline and performance of employees in their respective environments.
Through these steps, Gus Ipul hopes that Kemensos can become an increasingly professional, transparent institution trusted by the public.
