Gus Ipul Offers Condolences at the Home of Train Accident Victim in Bekasi
The victim, Nuryati (62), a resident of Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, passed away in the incident that occurred on Monday (27/4). At the time of the accident, the deceased was en route to Cikarang to visit her child who was receiving hospital treatment. She was travelling with her third daughter and grandchild, who survived the incident.
Gus Ipul arrived at the mourning house around 09:35 WIB, accompanied by Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims Masriani Mansyur, Director of Empowerment for Remote Indigenous Communities I Ketut Supena, and Special Staff to the Minister Ishaq Zubaedi. Upon arrival at the location, Gus Ipul immediately shook hands one by one with the sons and daughters of the deceased and conveyed his deepest condolences.
“I extend my condolences. We all certainly feel the loss,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Thursday (30/4/2026).
Gus Ipul conveyed that the calamity has received direct attention from President Prabowo Subianto and ensured that support for the victims is delivered.
“The Ministry of Social Affairs has been tasked with conducting assessments on the victims’ families so that at the very least we can face this calamity together, be strong, patient, and recover,” stated Gus Ipul.
The deceased’s family broke into tears as Gus Ipul reminisced about the deceased’s character in front of the family. He described Nuryati as someone who not only thought about her family but was also active in social and religious activities in her community.
“The spirit of the deceased, the legacies of the deceased, must be carried forward by us. The spirit of humanity, the spirit of promoting goodness, the spirit of empowerment,” he said.
A poignant atmosphere enveloped the mourning house as a collective prayer was offered. The prayer was led by Special Staff to the Minister Ishaq Zubaedi Raqib.
“May the deceased depart in a state of martyrdom, may all her good deeds be accepted by Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala, may all her sins be forgiven, and may the family left behind be granted patience,” said Gus Ipul.
The Ministry of Social Affairs provided initial assistance in the form of cash condolence payments, food aid packages, and hearing aids for the deceased’s son who suffers from hearing impairment.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Social Affairs will provide ongoing support through economic empowerment programmes. This is considering that the deceased previously ran a small shop in front of her home, which the family plans to continue.
Gus Ipul emphasised that the Ministry of Social Affairs will accompany the victims’ families to rise socially and economically.
“We come not only to express condolences but also to conduct assessments and dialogue with the family on what support is needed going forward so that the deceased’s legacies can be continued by her family,” he said.
Gus Ipul also assured that all other victims, both those who have passed away and those injured, will receive assessments and accompaniment according to each family’s needs.
“This does not only apply to the deceased, but to all victims, whether deceased or injured, we will provide assessments. We will then provide support according to each family’s needs,” he explained.
At the end of the visit, the deceased’s eldest daughter, Halimah (41), expressed her gratitude for the Ministry of Social Affairs’ attention.
“We extend our thanks to Mr Minister for the visit and the support to our family, and also thanks for the assistance, Mr Minister,” Halimah concluded.
