JAKARTA - The Secretary General of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul, has stated that the location for the 35th PBNU Congress will be determined based on infrastructure readiness.

“First of all, the measure is infrastructure readiness,” he said during the Gaspol Kompas.com event on Thursday (7/5/2026).

The Chairman of the Congress Organising Committee said that infrastructure is important because the number of attendees could reach 3,000 to 5,000 participants.

The second consideration is the reach and easy access to the location so as not to trouble participants coming from various regions.

This consideration is also based on the implementation time of less than three months.

Based on previous experience, Gus Ipul said that two months of preparation is sufficient to hold the Congress.

As for location options, Gus Ipul said that several regions have proposed to be the host.

With these proposals, Gus Ipul mentioned that the location will be determined in a meeting and adjusted to the two criteria mentioned earlier.
