Gus Ipul Inspects Venue for NU Conference Closing to be Attended by President
The Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Executive Board and Chairman of the 2026 NU Ulama Congress and Grand Conference Committee, KH Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, inspected the planned location for the closing ceremony of the NU Congress-Grand Conference at STAI Syaichona Moh. Cholil, Bangkalan, today.
During the visit, Gus Ipul toured the area to check the readiness of the event site, including the tents erected to welcome invited guests. He also inspected several points designated for guest arrival flows, security, and participant management.
Gus Ipul engaged in direct discussions with the Regent of Bangkalan, Lukman Hakim; the Bangkalan Police Chief, AKBP Wibowo; the caretaker of the Syaichona Moh. Cholil Islamic Boarding School, RKH Muhammad Nasih Aschal; and representatives from the NU Regional Branches across Madura to discuss the arrangement and tidying of the STAI Syaichona Moh. Cholil area.
According to Gus Ipul, all preparations must be carried out in detail as the closing of the NU Congress-Grand Conference is scheduled to be attended by President Prabowo Subianto.
“We want to ensure that every point is ready. From the event location, the President’s arrival route, the flow for invited guests, security, to the services for participants. Everything must be well-organised,” Gus Ipul stated in a written release on Friday (19/6/2026).
Following the site inspection and dialogue with various parties, Gus Ipul proceeded to the Bangkalan Regency Hall to lead a coordination meeting regarding the preparations for the NU Congress-Grand Conference closing.
The meeting was attended by the Regent of Bangkalan, Lukman Hakim; the Vice Regent of Bangkalan, Moch. Fauzan Dja’far; the Bangkalan Police Chief, AKBP Wibowo; the Bangkalan Military District Commander; various relevant officials; and NU administrators from across Madura.
During the coordination meeting, the committee, alongside the local government, security forces, and NU elements, discussed the detailed scenario for welcoming the President. Key focus areas included the President’s arrival route, the arrangement of VVIP and VIP guests, participant management, area security, tent readiness, road access, and the availability of facilities around the event site.
Gus Ipul emphasised that cross-party coordination is key to ensuring the entire series of the NU Congress-Grand Conference closing proceeds in an orderly, smooth, and solemn manner.
“This is not just about the technical aspects of the event, but also about showing respect to the clerics, the participants, the guests, and certainly to the President whom we have invited to attend the closing. Therefore, everything must be prepared as well as possible,” said Gus Ipul.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Bangkalan Regency Government, security forces, the Syaichona Moh. Cholil Islamic Boarding School, the Ministry of Public Works, and all NU ranks in Madura who are assisting with the event preparations.
“Bangkalan is a very important place for NU. Therefore, we want the closing of the Congress-Grand Conference here to be a good, orderly momentum that brings blessings,” Gus Ipul concluded.
