Gus Ipul Ensures Preparations for NU Congress in August 2026 Continue

The Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has decided that the National Congress will be held in August 2026. Preparations are being refined, including the formation of a small committee to compile the organisational structure for various organisational agendas.

Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), Chairman of the Organising Committee for the National Congress of Regional Boards, Conference of Regional Boards, and National Congress, stated that the small committee consists of the Chairman of the Steering Committee (SC) KH Said Asrori, Secretary of the SC Prof Mohammad Nuh, Chairman of the Organising Committee (OC) Saifullah Yusuf, and Secretary of the OC Amin Said Husni.

“Yes, we are continuously carrying out preparations. Yesterday, the plan for the congress in August was decided, the small committee was formed, and the small committee has now completed the organisational structure needed for the implementation of the Conference of Regional Boards, National Assembly of Religious Scholars, and National Congress,” he said in a written statement on Sunday (26/4/2026).

He explained that the complete organisational structure will subsequently be reported to the Rais Aam of PBNU and the General Chairman of PBNU. He emphasised that the congress preparation process is proceeding in stages according to the organisational mechanism.

“The main point is that the congress preparation process continues. We will then report it to the Rais Aam and the General Chairman,” he added.

Regarding congress participants, Gus Ipul mentioned that the congress will be attended by branch and regional executives who hold official appointment decrees (SK) for their leadership. Meanwhile, SKs that are still pending are being addressed by a panel team.

The panel team is chaired by Prof Mohammad Nuh with Amin Said Husni as secretary. They are tasked with resolving the pending SKs before the congress takes place.

“For that reason, to the regional and branch executives, we ask that everyone focus on the congress preparations. Once again, I repeat, for the SK requirements, there is now a panel team and it is being discussed by the panel team step by step,” he concluded.

Gus Ipul is optimistic that all preparation processes can proceed well and be completed before the congress implementation.
