Gus Ipul: 35th NU Congress to be Held at Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang
The Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board has decided that the 35th NU Congress will be held at the Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, East Java, from 27 to 31 August 2026. Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, chairman of the 35th NU Congress organising committee, stated that the decision was ratified during a joint Syuriyah-Tanfidziyah daily meeting at the PBNU building in Jakarta. “Finally, the PBNU joint meeting designated the Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, founded by Kiai Wahab Chasbullah, as the host venue for the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress,” said Gus Ipul. He explained that the determination of the location and timing of the congress should be welcomed with gratitude, especially given that the preceding dynamics had drawn considerable public attention. He therefore urged all branch administrators who are congress participants to prepare and to help make the organisation’s highest forum a success, in order to determine the future direction of the organisation. “To all regional branch administrators as congress participants, prepare and help make this congress a success with togetherness and joy, and produce the best decisions for the understanding of the jamiyah in the times to come,” said Gus Ipul. Meanwhile, the committee will soon travel to East Java to consolidate with the East Java PWNU, the Jombang PCNU, and the boarding schools in Tambakberas to provide support in the form of necessary facilities. “Of course, the most important thing is accommodation, then the facilities and infrastructure needed, both for participant accommodation, for commission meeting venues, and also the required transportation,” said Gus Ipul.
