Gus Dur, Try dine together
GIANYAR, Bali: Former president Abdurrahman Wahid, former vice
president Gen. (ret) Try Sutrisno and former defense minister
Gen. (ret) Edi Sudrajat had dinner together on Monday at the Ubud
Palace, some 40 kilometers northeast of the Bali capital of
Denpasar.
Try said the rare meeting had no political significance, and
described it as a reunion.
"We all came here at the invitation of the Ubud Palace
elders," Try said.
The three public figures all arrived with their wives.
Abdurrahman, or Gus Dur as he is familiarly known, is the
chief patron of the National Awakening Party (PKB) and has
insisted on running for the presidency a second time. Try is the
chief patron of the Nationhood and Unity Party (PKP), which is
chaired by Edi.
The two parties have formed a faction in the House of
Representatives, but Try denied the meeting discussed a possible
coalition for the general and presidential elections next year.
"There is no such agenda," Try said.
Try and Edi were in Bali for the PKP's fourth anniversary
celebrations. -- Antara
