Gus Dur treated at RSCM

JAKARTA (JP): Leader of the country's largest Moslem organization Nahdatul Ulama, Abdurrahman Wahid, has been hospitalized since Saturday in Jakarta.

"My father was brought to hospital on Saturday after meeting some guests. The doctor said he was too exhausted," Ina, one of the ulema's daughters told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

She said her father was recovering. "Maybe the doctor will allow him to come home in two or three days," she added.

Another member of the family had said Sunday that Abdurrahman, better known as Gus Dur, was being checked for high blood pressure.

Former minister Sarwono Kusumaatmadja and chairwoman of the unrecognized faction of the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI), Megawati Soekarnoputri, were among visitors at the hospital. (01)
