Gus Dur to open Gapensi congress

SEMARANG, Central Java: President Abdurrahman Wahid is
scheduled to open the 10th National Conference of the Indonesian
Builders Association (Gapensi) here, which is scheduled to run
from Sept. 16 until Sept. 20, an official said on Wednesday.

Chairman of the organizing committee Djoko Wahyudi said the
meeting would elect new members of the association's board for
the 2000/2004 period and define detailed work programs.

"The main topic that will be discussed is the implementation
of Law No. 8/1999 on Construction Services ahead of the putting
into effect of regional autonomy," he said.

Djoko added that the candidates for the post of association
chairman were incumbent Agus Kartasasmita, chairman of the
association's Jakarta chapter Daniel Hutapea and deputy chairman
of the association Burhanudin Napitupulu. (har/lup)
