The Cabinet that was announced on Aug. 23, 2000 demonstrates
President Abdurrahman Wahid's stubbornness. As many know, he is
considered stubborn and overconfident. He no longer listens to
his close advisers.

In the past, Gus Dur, as the President is called, often
created problems with both kyai (venerated Islamic scholars) and
other people. That's why people often call him a person who often
does things that other people in general would not do. However, a
lot of people still support him, including kyai. It is as if
those kyai cannot do anything against Gus Dur.

One person fell victim to Gus Dur's stubbornness when he was
chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama's (NU) central board. Of course we
still remember Alie Yafie, who resigned during the national
congress of the NU in Bandar Lampung, as a result of having a
difference of opinion with Gus Dur.

This time, as President, Gus Dur has created many opponents.
There have been a lot of victims as a result of Gus Dur's
attitude, which never changes. That's Gus Dur. Unfortunately, the
fate of 200 million of people is in the hands of this national
leader. The performance of Gus Dur's administration has proved
that there have been no significant changes. So, where is he
taking this nation to?
