Gus Dur launches personal website

JAKARTA: Former president Abdurrahman Wahid, or Gus Dur as he
is familiarly known, celebrated the country's 57th independence
anniversary on Saturday by launching his website www.gusdur.net.

The website was formally introduced to the public during a
function at the Acacia Hotel, just across from the head office of
Nahdlatul Ulama, which Gus Dur used to chair.

The website is part of a media center designed to promote Gus
Dur's vision and thoughts on many issues.

A discussion, which also featured Gus Dur himself, highlighted
the launch ceremony, which was also marked by a poetry recital by
street children.

This is the second personal website of a prominent politician
to have been set up since People's Consultative Assembly Speaker
and National Mandate Party chairman Amien Rais launched
