Gus Dur hospitalized for high blood pressure

Former president Abdurrahman Wahid, popularly known as "Gus Dur", was admitted on Wednesday to state-owned Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital (RSCM) in Central Jakarta for high blood pressure and blood sugar.

"Gus Dur is being treated at the RSCM for an increase in his blood pressure and glucose content after arriving from a two-day visit to Malaysia," his spokesman Andi M. Massardi said.

Gus Dur's family doctor Umar Wahid, his brother, has prescribed hospital treatment and bed-rest. -- JP
