Gus Dur admitted to hospital

Former president Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid was admitted to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in Central Jakarta on Friday due to exhaustion following a series of trips to Central Java and East Java.

An aide said Gus Dur was given first aid after he almost collapsed when he was about to hold a media conference. On his way to the hospital, the medical team checked his level of consciousness by asking him his full name and birth date.

"He managed to answer all the questions correctly," the aide told Antara, adding that no visitors were allowed in order to help him recover. Gus Dur has received treatment several times for hypertension and high blood sugar levels since his ouster in 2001. -- Antara
