Gunungkidul Regional Councillor Mega Found to be in Decile 5
A member of the Gunungkidul Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Mega Nusantara Wati, has been recorded as part of decile 5 in the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN). She admitted she only discovered this while casually checking the decile rankings, which have recently become a subject of public discussion.
“I checked out of curiosity via the DTSEN, and I was shocked to find I am in decile 5,” she said when contacted by journalists on Thursday (10/9/2026).
The PDI Perjuangan faction member expressed surprise because there had been no prior interview or verification process with officials. Mega suggested there might be an error in the data used to determine the decile.
“There is a possibility that the data is merely an estimate, as my family card (KK) only lists my name,” she remarked.
Furthermore, Mega has not yet updated her employment status since becoming a legislator. It is noted that Mega was elected as a member of the Gunungkidul DPRD in 2024 and currently serves on Commission B.
“Indeed, since I was inaugurated, I have not updated my occupation data on my ID card (KTP); perhaps that also influenced the result,” she added.
Mega stated that she has not yet taken any steps to change her decile classification. However, she intends to use this finding as a basis for evaluation within the Gunungkidul DPRD.
“There has been no further action yet, as I only checked it out of curiosity. However, this will serve as material for evaluation, and I will likely discuss it with my faction colleagues so it can be raised in a meeting,” she said.
It is known that decile 5 represents the lower-middle class. Although classified as lower-middle, decile 5 is not considered a priority group for receiving social assistance.
Previously, the Chairman of the Gerindra Faction of the DIY DPRD, Lisman Puja Kesuma, also admitted to being recorded in decile 4. The man, who possesses assets worth Rp 3.5 billion, stated that he has reported the matter to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) to request a data update.
“The decile data is managed at the provincial and regency levels; the data needs updating to reflect current conditions,” he said on Tuesday (8/9).
