Gunungkidul, DIY (ANTARA) - The Gunungkidul Regency Government, Special Region of Yogyakarta, has conducted coaching and transfers for the tourism retribution collection point (TPR) officers at Baron Beach following tourist complaints regarding alleged discrepancies between payment amounts and retribution tickets.

“The local government has imposed administrative sanctions in the form of transferring the officers from their previous posts and requiring them to undergo intensive internal coaching,” said the Head of the Gunungkidul Tourism, Creative Economy, Youth and Sports Office, Antonius Hary Sukmono, in his statement in Gunungkidul, DIY, on Friday.

According to him, this coaching and staff transfer for those serving as tourist attendants is a form of commitment to enforcing discipline and improving service quality.

In addition, he said, the step was taken to maintain transparency and accountability in local retribution management.

“Every transaction made by tourists is part of the original local revenue (PAD) that must be accounted for openly and professionally,” he stated.

His side has also summoned and clarified with the relevant officers.

From the examination results, no elements of intentionality or illegal levies were found, but rather purely due to carelessness in the service process.

“Even though there is no intentional element, this remains a violation of the established standard operating procedures (SOP),” he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the complaint, the Gunungkidul Regency Government has expressed apologies to the public and tourists.

The incident serves as important evaluation material to ensure that services at all entrances to tourist areas run according to procedures.

“Tourists are also urged to always double-check their tickets or proof of payment before leaving the counter. If discrepancies are found, they can immediately report to the officers on site so that it can be followed up directly,” said Antonius.

The government hopes this event becomes a momentum for collective improvement, as well as strengthening the commitment of all field officers in providing prime, transparent, and accountable services to the public.
