Gunungkidul Regency Government Hosts Moto3 Watch Party to Support Local Rider Veda Ega Tomorrow
Gunungkidul Regency Government will host a Moto3 watch party at Bangsal Sewokoprojo in Wonosari tomorrow afternoon. The event is a full show of support for local rider Veda Ega Pratama, who is competing in Moto3.
Head of the Regency’s Tourism, Creative Economy, Youth and Sports Department, Hary Sukmono, stated that the watch party is open to all Gunungkidul residents. He explained it is in response to Regent Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih’s initiative to back locals achieving international success.
“The watch party tomorrow is a response from the Regent as one of Gunungkidul’s sons, Veda, has excelled internationally,” he told detikJogja on Saturday (30 May 2026).
Hary added that the regency government has coordinated with Trans7, which holds broadcast rights for MotoGP. “After coordination with Trans7, it was permitted. The watch party starts at 3 PM WIB tomorrow and is free of charge,” he said.
Despite being free, Hary urged attendees to adhere to the watch party rules at Bangsal Sewokoprojo: no smoking, no alcohol, no sharp weapons, and no pets. “Attendees are also prohibited from live streaming on Instagram, TikTok, or other digital platforms. They must maintain order, security, and cleanliness during the event,” he added.
According to detiksport, Honda Team Asia rider Veda Ega Pratama secured ninth place in the Moto3 practice session for the 2026 Italian Grand Prix. The result was not yet satisfactory for him.
At Mugello Circuit on Friday (29 May 2026) evening WIB, Veda was in ninth position, achieving it in the final moments of practice. He had previously dropped to 21st place with five minutes remaining but managed to improve his time to 1 minute 56.305 seconds, securing ninth place.
This time qualified him for Q2. The top spot in practice was taken by CIP Green Power rider Scott Ogden with a time of 1 minute 55.812 seconds.
Veda Ega admitted difficulty in the first free practice session due to the slippery Mugello track surface. He is still seeking the optimal bike setup for the upcoming qualification and race in the 2026 Italian Moto3 event.
