Gunungkidul Regency Declares Drought Emergency Status Until 31 August 2026

Anticipation of hydrometeorological disasters in Gunungkidul Regency has been carried out through Regent’s Decree Number 154/KPTS/2026, which establishes the Hydrometeorological Drought Emergency Alert Status in Gunungkidul Regency, effective from 1 June 2026.

Meanwhile, clean water assistance has also been dispatched to residents in need across Gunungkidul Regency. The Head of BPBD Gunungkidul, Purwono, explained that his agency has distributed more than 128 tanks, each with a capacity of 5,000 litres of water.

“The budget available has been allocated for the distribution of 1,150 tanks of clean water,” he said.

In addition to the clean water assistance from BPBD Gunungkidul, most of the kapanewon (districts) in Gunungkidul Regency also have budget allocations to provide clean water assistance. Of the 18 kapanewon in Gunungkidul, 12 have clean water assistance budgets.

He explained that clean water assistance is provided upon an official request submitted to BPBD. The Gunungkidul Regency Government has also issued Regent’s Decree Number 154/KPTS/2026, which establishes the Hydrometeorological Drought Emergency Alert Status in Gunungkidul Regency.

The emergency alert status will remain in effect for three months, running from 1 June 2026 until 31 August 2026.
