Gunungkidul Regency builds 13 strategic projects based on mutual cooperation

The Gunungkidul Regency Government (Pemkab) together with the community in Kapanewon Playen are building 13 strategic projects by promoting the spirit of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) as an implementation of Pancasila values as well as an effort to accelerate development amidst fiscal limitations. Gunungkidul Regent Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih stated that gotong royong is not merely a ceremonial activity, but a form of synergy between the government and the community in developing the region. “This value is a noble heritage of Pancasila which distinguishes the Indonesian nation in the eyes of the world,” she said. According to Endah, the spirit of gotong royong is one solution to support regional development amidst the government’s limited fiscal capacity. “Fiscal limitations should not make us sit idle; we must have the spirit to explore natural resources and locally-generated revenue through gotong royong,” she said. She explained that the determination of development locations was based on the priority scale of community needs in each respective area. “With this, the launch of the Gotong Royong activities for Kapanewon Playen for the 2026 Fiscal Year is officially opened,” she said. Meanwhile, Panewu of Playen Irmawati Rahayu said that this year’s gotong royong activities are funded through the Kapanewon Playen Budget Implementation Document (DPA) targeting 13 development points. “This programme covers 13 development points spread across various kalurahan in the Kapanewon Playen area, with the main focus on disaster evacuation routes and anticipation of natural vulnerabilities,” she said. She explained that one of the projects being undertaken is the construction of a 112-metre full block concrete road in Kalurahan Banaran, which functions as a disaster evacuation route. In addition, 8.5-metre high galvanised wire gabions are being installed in Kedung Wanglu, Kalurahan Banyusoco, as an effort to anticipate cliff landslides. “Then a 125-metre retaining wall is also being built in Dusun Wiyoko Tengah, Kalurahan Plembutan, to anticipate landslides threatening the road body,” she said. Irmawati added that other projects include the construction of drainage, concrete roads, and decker plates in Kalurahan Ngleri, Getas, Playen, Logandeng, Bandung, Gading, Bleberan, Dengok, Ngawu, and Pleret. “The Playen community welcomed the programme and participated actively in its implementation,” she said. In fact, she continued, the construction of the full block concrete road in Kalurahan Banaran, originally planned for 112 metres, will be extended to 312 metres through support from the kalurahan’s own-source revenue (PAD) and the Kalurahan Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBKal). “In the cost budget plan (RAB), the road construction was only 112 metres long, then through support from PAD and APBKal, the kalurahan government is targeting its completion up to 312 metres,” she said.
