Gunungkidul Civil Servant from Satpol PP Suspended After Stealing Bird
The Gunungkidul District Personnel, Education, and Training Agency (BKPPD) has taken action regarding a part-time PPPK from Satpol PP implicated in a theft case in Wonosari, Gunungkidul. BKPPD states that the PPPK has been temporarily dismissed.
The Head of the Employee Status, Performance, and Welfare Division at BKPPD Gunungkidul, Sunawan, explained that the part-time PPPK still falls under the category of ASN (Civil Servants). However, BKPPD has received a letter regarding the detention of the part-time PPPK from Satpol PP Gunungkidul, RDS (29) alias Jeje.
“Therefore, the individual has been temporarily dismissed,” he said when contacted by detikJogja on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
As for the next steps, Sunawan said they are awaiting the court’s verdict, considering the principle of presumption of innocence.
“The employment status awaits the court’s decision. So, while detained, he is temporarily dismissed, and the employment status awaits the court’s decision,” he stated.
Sunawan also revealed that Jeje faces dismissal if the court’s ruling sentences him to more than two years in prison.
“If the criminal penalty later exceeds two years, he is likely to be dismissed from the part-time PPPK position,” he said.
Previously reported, police arrested a bird thief, along with a pedal bicycle, and for damaging CCTV in Wonosari, Gunungkidul. After examination, the perpetrator was identified as a member of the Gunungkidul District Satpol PP with part-time PPPK status.
“The perpetrator is a member of Gunungkidul Satpol PP with part-time PPPK status,” said the Head of Gunungkidul Police, AKBP Damus Asa, to reporters at the Gunungkidul Police Station on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
The perpetrator, initialled RDS (29) alias Jeje, a resident of Wonosari, Gunungkidul, is now languishing in the detention room at Gunungkidul Police Station to account for his actions.
Wonosari Police Chief, Kompol Tri Wibawa, added that the case disclosure began when a resident of Siraman, Wonosari, became a victim of bird theft along with its cage on Saturday (28/2/2026). The bird was a type of Candet.
“Besides the Candet bird, the perpetrator also damaged two CCTV units. The total loss caused by the perpetrator is around Rp 2 million,” he said.
