This year’s dry season is predicted to be drier than usual. The Gunungkidul Regency Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has therefore made preparations to use the Unexpected Expenditure Budget (BTT) allocation if the regular budget for drought management proves insufficient.

Gunungkidul BPBD Chief Executive Purwono explained that the clean water distribution assistance budget for 2026 amounts to Rp346 million, covering the procurement of approximately 800 tanks of clean water. The agency has already begun distributing clean water aid and is discussing the use of the BTT budget.

“We estimate the regular budget will only last until mid-September,” he stated. Before the regular budget is exhausted, the agency is preparing a proposal to use the BTT budget for clean water assistance. He explained that currently, the regular budget for drought management is still sufficient. “We have already distributed more than 160 tanks.”

In addition to the BPBD budget, most sub-districts also have their own budgets for clean water assistance. To receive aid, residents can send a letter requesting clean water assistance, which must be acknowledged by the sub-district head.
