Gunungkidul BPBD Has Distributed 452 Tankers of Clean Water
The Gunungkidul Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) had, as of last Tuesday, distributed 452 tankers of clean water, amounting to 2,496,000 litres, to several areas experiencing clean water difficulties due to the prolonged dry season.
Head of the Gunungkidul Regency BPBD, Purwono, explained on Wednesday that the largest delivery of clean water went to Tepus Sub-district, reaching 968,000 litres or 176 tankers.
He added that for the Tepus area, the clean water was distributed to Giripanggung Village (20,000 litres or 40 tankers), Purwodadi (192,000 litres or 36 tankers), and Sidoharjo (44,000 litres or 8 tankers).
Meanwhile, Rongkop Sub-district received 632,000 litres or 112 tankers, distributed to Semugih Village (592,000 litres or 104 tankers), and Petir and Bohol Villages (20,000 litres or 4 tankers each).
Other sub-districts also affected by drought include Panggang with a total of 44 tankers, Saptosari 32 tankers, Ngawen 24 tankers, Semin 20 tankers, Wonosari 16 tankers, Girisubo 16 tankers, Ponjong eight tankers, and Purwosari four tankers.
“In total, 16 sub-districts have been affected, with the most severe in Tepus and Rongkop Sub-districts,” he said in Wonosari.
Purwono added that the clean water distribution will continue for several more months until residents no longer experience clean water difficulties.
“The budget is still available,” he said.
In a separate location, Head of the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) BPBD, Agustinus Ruruh Haryata, explained that the DIY BPBD is preparing budget support to assist regencies that still need to carry out clean water deliveries.
According to weather forecasts released by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), he said, the peak of the 2026 dry season will occur in the August–September period. He stated that all regencies and cities in DIY are prepared to face this condition.
“Each regency in DIY is fully prepared to address drought among residents at the peak of the 2026 dry season,” said Agustinus Ruruh Haryata.
According to him, the impact of this drought is more seriously felt by residents in Gunungkidul Regency, Bantul Regency and Kulon Progo Regency. These areas, he continued, have prepared funds from their regular budgets. If those funds are insufficient along with unexpected expenditure funds, he said, the DIY Regional Government will prepare a budget through a revised budget.
