Gunung Mas Regency Allocates Rp1 Billion for Simultaneous Village Head Elections Preparation
The Gunung Mas Regency Government (Gumas), Central Kalimantan, has allocated a budget of up to Rp1 billion for the preparatory stages of the simultaneous village head elections (Pilkades) scheduled for 2027.
“For the 2026 election preparation budget, Rp1 billion has been allocated through the mechanism of the Revised Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD Perubahan),” said the Acting Head of the Department of Community and Village Empowerment (DPMD) of Gumas, Hendra Surya, in Kuala Kurton on Monday.
A total of 59 villages in Gunung Mas Regency will undergo simultaneous elections in 2027, as the terms of office for village heads in these areas are set to expire in February 2027. Although the elections will only take place in 2027, the preparatory stages have commenced in 2026.
On the other hand, the budget for the actual implementation stage in 2027 has not yet been allocated. However, he emphasised that the amount will be larger than that of 2026, given that the scope of requirements during the implementation phase will be much broader.
The budget will be used for election logistics, including ballot papers, distribution, monitoring and security, committee honours and operational costs, as well as training for elected village heads.
Furthermore, the election committees have now been formed across various levels, ranging from the regency and sub-district levels down to the village level.
Hendra added that the Gumas DPMD is currently preparing to draft the Regional Regulation Draft (Raperda) regarding the 2027 elections, while awaiting the issuance of the Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation (Permendagri) to serve as the primary reference for its formulation. This regulation is a derivative of Government Regulation (PP) Number 16 of 2026 concerning Villages, which will serve as the material basis for drafting the Pilkades Regional Regulation in Gunung Mas.
The election zones are divided as follows: Zone 1 includes the Sepang, Mihing Raya, and Kurun sub-districts, with a total of 16 participating villages, where Kurun has the highest number with six villages. Zone 2 covers five sub-districts—Rungan Hulu, Rungan, Rungan Barat, Manuhing, and Manuhing Raya—with 21 participating villages, where Rungan Hulu has the fewest with three and Manuhing Raya has the most with six. Zone 3 consists of four sub-districts—Tewah, Kahayan Hulu Utara, Miri Manasa, and Damang Batu—comprising 22 participating villages, with Damang Batu having the highest distribution with seven villages.
“The preparations for the second wave of simultaneous village head elections are currently underway in all participating villages to ensure that the implementation proceeds in an orderly manner and according to the established schedule,” said Inda.
