Gunmen strike again in Palu

PALU, Central Sulawesi: Two weeks after the attack on the Effata church that killed a clergywoman, gunmen shot another Christian resident on Tuesday in Sausu district, Parigi Moutong regency, Central Sulawesi.

The victim, Jhonly Tumbelaka, was rushed to hospital in Palu after the incident at around 2 p.m. He was able to speak to journalists as he sustained only a light injury to the nose.

Central Sulawesi Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Victor D Batara said five gunmen riding three motorcycles fired shots at Jhonly at the hamlet of Kertajati in Piore village, some 175 kilometers east of Palu.

The police could not identify the suspects. --JP
